We’re thrilled to share the first update on Seamus, the Golden Retriever we’ve been proudly sponsoring through our community at BSS. Seamus is growing every day and making incredible strides on his journey to becoming a fully trained guide dog.
As many of you know, Seamus was born on August 27, 2024, and since the moment he arrived, he’s been showing the calm temperament and intelligence needed for this vital role.
We’ve just received Seamus’s first report card, and we’re so proud of his progress. He’s been doing exceptionally well with his training, and it’s clear that his gentle nature and eagerness to learn are shining through.
Here’s a snapshot of Seamus’s first official report card, showing his progress across different areas of training.
Seamus is settling into his training well, but the next steps will be even more exciting. Over the next few months, the focus will shift toward transport training and helping him navigate a variety of environments, building his confidence as he encounters busier streets, public transport, and new places. This is a crucial stage in Seamus’s journey as he continues to develop into a fully-fledged guide dog.
We want to thank every one of you who has supported this initiative, whether through participating in raffles, donating spare change, or attending our fundraising events at BSS and The Archer Pub. Your contributions are making a real difference, helping Seamus and other guide dogs gain the skills they need to bring independence and joy to their future owners.
